I Accidentally Tried Maven...

11:56 PM

Yes.  I accidentally subscribed to one of those programs where you really just want to try something out, but then they suck you in and keep your credit card information and then charge you every month for something you aren't even sure that you want.  I just wanted the free (minus shipping and handling) box.  I didn't read the fine print to realize that this program would just continually charge me until I cancelled my subscription.

The point of this story isn't even whether or not I liked the Maven Program.  Because honestly, I haven't tried any of their products.  It's all nail polish and I haven't had a chance to paint my nails any of the colors because they aren't exactly practical.  The point is I wish these websites had a trial option.  I would love to try all of them out, but I don't want to feel like a jerk when I sign up to get a discounted product and then immediately cancel.  In addition, I don't want to spend money on these programs because I haven't found one I particularly love.

Do any of y'all do these kinds of subscriptions?  I feel like when I have a stable, well-paying job I'll enjoy something like this more.  For now, I would prefer just a sample here and there.  No commitment.

  1. I've been wanting to sign up for one but I can't decide if I want to or if it's really worth the month just to have stuff come in the mail every month that I wont actually use. I've looked into Ipsy. I'm not a huge makeup person but I'd like to get better...do I really need monthly boxes of it though? I dont know.

  2. I think that this could be really fun, but at the same time, I'm not a make-up person so this doesn't apply. I think stuff like a blogger mail exchange is really great though. You seem to have had a good experience with that!

  3. I love Ipsy, it's 10 dollars and comes with some really well known brands...but I continuously keep forgetting to cancel Julep :/
