Love at First Sight [ipsy review]

1:11 PM

I got my first ipsy glam bag a few days ago, and I am obsessed.  I was extremely impressed with how quickly I received my bag, and how wonderful all of the products were.  Especially considering this was all $10.  If you haven't heard of ipsy before, I highly suggest you check it out.  It's perfect for women who are serious about or experimenting with makeup, and it's really easy on your budget.  A nice little treat for a nice little price.  Anyways, I was thrilled with the products that came in the cute little gold bag.
Galaxy Chic baked eyeshadow in eclipse: I'm not one for dark eyeshadow (just because I don't know how to properly use it), but I loved this color and I loved the texture once it was on my eyes.  If I can figure out how to use dark eyeshadow, this will be fabulous!

em michelle phan creamy color sheer lipstick in violacious: I love this lipstick.  I'm actually wearing it to class today.  Since it's sheer, it's just the perfect amount of color.  Especially with my sweater dress that contains all neutral colors.

Gem Eye Pencil by Starlooks in amethyst: Once again, a lovely purple.  I'm so excited to use this as an alternative to white eyeliner for my water line.  I think it'll be a fantastic way to light up my eyes a bit.
Straight Up Color Nail Lacquer by Nailtini in caviar cocktail: Although I haven't used this product yet, I look forward to using it.  I love metallic colors during the holiday season.  I think this would be lovely with gold glitter.

Lip Crayon by Be a Bombshell in Hot Damn: First of all, I love the name.  I love the look of the crayon itself.  And I love how it looks on me.  It goes on smooth and it does a great job of keeping my lips colored, even though it does come off a bit.  It even stays on overnight if you're like me and too lazy to take off your makeup at night.

Bronzer by Pixi Beauty in Subtly Suntouched: I have no clue how to use bronzer properly.  Help!

  2. Hi Samantha!

Please don't be intimidated by bronzer! It's a Pennsylvania girl's BFF Nov-March and sometimes into April (Love those blah gray winter days!!)

The easiest way to apply bronzer is to remember this -one- simple thing: Bronzer goes everywhere the sun naturally "kisses" your skin. Sooo, it would be cheek bones, forehead, down your nose and just a titch on the chin.

Another helpful hint is that you should never use a foundation that is DARKER than your skin tone. That's how you get the awful dreaded JAW LINE (I think they are actually quite embarassing! But that's just me!) Instead, you use bronzer to give your skin color. It looks more natural and no crazy jaw line :)

I hope you found this helpful!

PS. It's MUCH easier to dip your brush in the color a few times, tap off the excess and then apply from your temple down your cheek bone. You can always add more. It is easier to blend in excess color at your temple than the apple of your cheek. If you go to dark right off the bat, you are left cleaning your cheeks and having to start all over again (primer, foundation, concealer, setting powder, blush if you use it, then bronzer.) :D Have fun playing makeover! If you have any more questions, you can always ask! :)

  4. Yayyy!! Glad your first bag was such a score. I'm jealous of the lipstick you got! I got this lipgloss that's in a pan. It's really sticky, not to mention the amount of germs that gets in it after multiple uses. Bleh!
