Last first day of undergrad

12:11 AM

Oh hey look, I put on real clothes yesterday.  Don't get too used to that.

Supposedly, drinking from the Old Well on the first day of class means you'll get all A's during the semester.  After six semesters without a 4.0 I still drink from this well.  Not because I actually have any chance of having all A's in a semester since that would require an attention span, but because it's just tradition.  I can't believe that this will only be my tradition for one more semester before I graduate and go to a graduate school with new traditions that are equally ineffective.  I also can't believe that after being here for seven semesters I actually chose to have all four of my classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  It's always a four day weekend in my life so I can't honestly complain even though that's what I do best.  I have class from 8:00am-9:15am, 11:00am-12:15pm, 12:30pm-1:45pm, and 3:30pm-4:45pm.  Technically I also have an online class, but that doesn't even count and who knows if I'll actually keep it.  Yesterday I also worked from 5:00pm-9:00pm and then of course I had to do homework and write this blog post.  I got three packages and my new "I'm a real adult and now I can legally drink" license, so that kind of almost made up for it except it was freaking hot and I didn't like walking to get said packages because I hate physical activity.  It was an exhausting day and I think I might be half-asleep while writing this, but I think it's all worth it.  It's a great semester so far.  Granted it has only been one day and I am mentally drained...

Before you begin your first year of college, everyone tells you the same thing: it's going to fly by.  You don't listen because you're newly 18 and you have all of the answers, but when you realize that you're 21 and a senior you finally wish that you listened to all of those people.  You wish you would have really taken advantage of the past few years, and you even wish you could have documented all of it.  It's important to me that I really take advantage of this last year here at UNC, and it's also just as important to me that I record it all on this blog.  I'm only human and I'm fairly busy so I don't know what I'll actually accomplish, but I do want to try my best.  This "first day recap" is the first of many posts to come, so I hope you'll be along to see what I do this year.
