nose piercing questions

7:00 AM

Yesterday I got to work to discover that my nose ring fell out.  I don't know when or where or how or any other details, but I was freaking out all day.  I quickly googled how long it takes for a nose piercing to close, and found that the answer totally depends on the person and how long they had it.  I know mine was out for at least 8 hours and didn't close.  I've had my ring for at least a year and a half. Anyways, I thought I would post a few nose piercing questions on the blog just in case.  If anyone has any questions, let me know and I'll try to help.
My first selfie with my nose ring. Necessary.
How do they do it?
The piercer will clean the outside of your nose with alcohol before he/she marks the location with a marker.  Then he/she will clamp the nostril, pierce it with a needle, and put a nose ring in the hole.  It's actually pretty quick.

Did it hurt?
Yes.  Someone shoved a needle in my nose and then put a blunt metal object in the wound.  Also it made my left nostril run and my left eye water.  Still totally worth it.

How much did it cost?
That was one of my questions.  It'll vary depending on where you go, but I think I paid $60 including a tip.

Did you get a bump?
I did get a bump on my nose at the site of the piercing, and then I tried everything to get rid of it.  I think tea tree oil finally did the trick, but not before I stuck a teabag on my face for a couple hours.

How did you blow your nose?
Please tell me I wasn't the only person who had this question.  Q-tips.

Hoop or stud?
Whatever makes you happy.  I would start with a stud because they tend to move around less, and the movement may agitate your piercing or just really hurt.

Has it ever fallen out?
Not until yesterday, after about a year and a half.  No clue when or where it happened, but I now suggest keeping a back-up nose ring with you just in case.

Will I get a job with a nose ring?
I did.  Of course, it depends on the person hiring you and the profession.  I think a small stud is probably the safest bet.
