Paris Hotel Las Vegas

8:30 AM

If you follow me on social media or you saw my previous blog post, you know that I was in Las Vegas for work.  I went to the SRA International Annual Meeting with two of my coworkers, and realized that about 90% of the conference was not geared towards people like me who have no grant experience whatsoever, but I still managed to get some good advice out of it and of course, I saw some of Vegas.  I'm already planning my next trip!

I stayed in the Paris Hotel, and I didn't get nearly enough pictures of it to do it justice.  I enjoyed this hotel and I would recommend staying in it, although I'm sure most people care more about the casino than the hotel rooms.  It was what I assume is typical of any casino in Las Vegas: slots machines and card tables galore, tiny cocktail waitresses running around with cigarettes and drinks, shopping all around, and an endless supply of food and alcohol.  Each part of the casino and resort had their own vibes, and I especially loved sitting around and people-watching.  I would say there is plenty to keep you entertained, including a dueling pianos bar and taking an elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower.  There are several restaurants, although I only went to Hexx Kitchen (which I should have taken pictures of because it was delicious).  The Paris is not exactly what I would call a kid friendly place because I wouldn't accuse Las Vegas of being family friendly, but a) I don't have kids so what do I know and b) people brought their kids anyways.

A couple fun facts before I go: the Eiffel Tower was supposed to be a full-size replica, but they had to make it half-scale because of the nearby airport.  You can take an elevator ride up to an observation deck 46 flights, or 460 feet, in the air to take pictures from the top of the Eiffel Tower.  In the second to last photograph, you can see one of the tower's legs, three of which are inside the building while one is outside.  That's because the hotel was built after the tower!  I thought that was pretty cool, so I just wanted to share.

Have you ever been to the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas?  What was your favorite part?
